Rain Penetration Chamber

Research Activities

The rain penetration chamber is used to evaluate the rain penetration resistance of windows, doors and walls and the interfaces between these, and to evaluate the effect of envelope defects on water leakage.

Research Staff

The rain penetration chamber is equipped with a regulated water spray rack and an air compressor/pressurizing system which are used to subject the test panels to a water spray and an air pressure differential. The spray rack can be calibrated for water penetration testing according to standards such as ASTM E331-96, Standard Test Method for Water Penetration of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls and Doors by Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference.
