Graduate Certificate in Environmental Engineering [1]

The Graduate Certificate in Environmental Engineering is designed for practicing engineers who wish to specialize in one or more of the following subdisciplines in Environmental Engineering:

  • Industrial Waste Management
  • Environmental Auditing
  • Modelling in Environmental Systems.

The program has 4 courses (16 credits) that can be completed in 2 semesters of part-time study. Students with high standing in their bachelor program and whose academic records satisfy the requirements for good standing in the Master’s Program in Civil Engineering may apply for transfer to the M.Eng. or M.A.Sc. program.


Admission requirements

Applicants to a certificate must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering with an above-average standing. The Department will recommend on the acceptability of an applicant for admission to the program and may require the applicant to do specific remedial course work to meet the program requirements.

Requirements for completion

  • 1. Credits: A fully qualified candidate is required to complete a minimum of 16 credits.
  • 2. Courses: Candidates in the graduate certificate program must take 12 credits of core courses in an area of concentration while the balance of 4 credits may be chosen from the elective list or other courses offered by the Department.
  • 3. Performance: To be permitted to continue, students must have obtained a weighted cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.75.
  • 4. Graduation: To be eligible to graduate, students must have obtained a CGPA of at least 2.75.
